A Steiner Ranch homeowner coordinated Capital City Flooring Austin as part of a larger kitchen renovation, replacing original tile and carpet with waterproof LVP that could handle the kitchen renovation's construction traffic and then look beautiful for years to come.

The Challenge
The homeowner was mid-renovation — new cabinets were being installed, new countertops were coming, and the original 18-inch tile in the kitchen and worn carpet in the adjacent living and dining areas needed to go. The challenge was sequencing: the flooring needed to be installed after the cabinet bases were set but before the upper cabinets and appliances were placed. We also needed to account for a transition from the slab-on-grade kitchen to a wood-framed living area with a slight height difference.
Our Solution
We recommended a 7-inch wide-plank waterproof LVP in a warm honey-oak tone that would complement the white Shaker cabinets and quartz countertops the homeowner had selected. The floating installation method allowed us to run the floor under the toe kicks of the new cabinet bases for a seamless look. We used a Schluter RENO-TK transition strip to handle the height differential at the living area boundary. The entire 1,600 square feet was completed in three days, keeping the renovation on schedule.

The Results
The flooring was completed on schedule, allowing the cabinet and countertop crews to finish on time. The warm honey-oak LVP tied together the white cabinets, quartz countertops, and stainless appliances beautifully. The homeowner reported that the floor was the element that made the whole kitchen renovation feel cohesive. The waterproof surface has handled the post-renovation cooking and entertaining without any issues.
"Coordinating multiple contractors is stressful, but Capital City made it easy. They showed up exactly when they said they would, worked around the cabinet crew, and finished ahead of schedule. The floor looks amazing and the transition between the kitchen and living area is invisible. I recommend them to everyone."
